Camp & Operations Manager

Hybrid, $70K+, Seasonal position with opportunity to grow into full time

About The Role

As Codezilla’s Camp & Operations Manager your #1 job is to ensure that our team is delivering ‘Safe, Educational Fun’ to kids at our school and summer camps across Toronto. During the school year, you will support our team on-site at least 40% of the time, and 100% on-site during summer camp (7 camp locations within the inner GTA radius).

The Ideal Candidate: 

You have experience ensuring smooth-running operations at camps, recreational centres, multiple store locations or customer-service environments. As the ‘go to’ person for our team, you know what’s happening when and where, and  you enjoy managing and mentoring our team of instructors. Coding skills are not required, but prior camp or people-based work is vital. You are high-energy, enthusiastic and excited to put your stamp on a growing company. You are a leader, a doer and a creative problem-solver who wants to make decisions in an entrepreneurial environment.

Role and Responsibilities:  

40% – Staff (Hire, train and manage instructors): 

  • Support and mentor staff to ensure they deliver ‘Safe, Educational Fun’ while teaching at schools or camps in the GTA
  • Recruit, onboard and train new staff (ages 16-24+) via remote, video, in-person and on-site training
  • Manage staff scheduling and staff communication/follow up

40% – Operations, Equipment & Customer Service (internal & external excellence): 

  • Manage in-person operations at schools and summer camps: quality teaching, safe and happy kids and 100% parent/teacher satisfaction. 
  • Summer camp: help order equipment and supplies for 7 small-size camps in central GTA
  • School programs: ensure equipment is delivered/picked up and properly maintained by our team (6-12+ schools per term)
  • Helpful and friendly customer service to parents, principals, schools, community partners and children via email, phone and in-person
  • Help document and update our camp and school process (standard operating procedures)

20% – Expansion Plans (help champion or co-lead): 

  • Identify and secure new summer camp locations, strategic partnerships and growth opportunities
  • Work with Codezilla’s Education advisors to help develop new coding and STEM curriculum

  • Personal integrity and initiative; you’re a self starter who is willing to “roll up your sleeves” to help the team
  • A positive attitude, reliable and trust-worthy, goal-driven and excited to hit sales, growth and operations targets


  • Past camp experience or working with kids at day/sleepover camp, rec. centre, tutoring or a people-centred business
  • 3+ years operations experience: camps, stores, business units, restaurants, live events, franchise, business or customer-service environments
  • 40% on-site (school year) and 100% on-site during summer camp. Flexible to work the occasional evening or weekend.
  • Strong software skills: G-suite (google calendar, google sheets), Slack, Asana, e-ticketing tools, etc. 
  • Willing to learn basic coding and manage wifi/internet requirements.
  • You are physically able to lift/roll a suitcase weighing up to 30 pounds 
  • Requires a Vulnerable Services Sector (VSS) police check and updated COVID Vaccinations 

Bonus Skills (nice to have)

  • Background/Post-secondary education in Sports Rec, Education, Business Admin or related field
  • You are tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software or hardware
  • Access to a car, a valid standard class G driver’s licence and a clean driving history (3-years)

Compensation & Job Details

  • $70,000 + bonus (3 – 5%) based on personal performance and business results
  • 100% onsite during summer camp season (~2 months) + hybrid work during academic school year (~10 months)
  • This is a full time seasonal role with the opportunity to grow into full time employee
