This is a great opportunity for regular part-time work with flexible time commitments.

We welcome university/college students, recent grads or supply teachers with STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) backgrounds -- AND/OR -- Education backgrounds with strong tech skills or willingness to learn.

We're a fast-growing educational company looking for more extraordinary instructors to introduce technology to school-aged kids (Kindergarten - Grade 8). We introduce kids to coding and technology, both in-class and after school, using a combination of software, apps and super fun tech toys.

You will be matched with another adult instructor and responsible for teaching at a school(s) or at our workshop locations within the GTA (all locations are mid-town Toronto and close to TTC).

You will arrive on time, help set up the room and equipment, take attendance and be responsible for teaching and inspiring the kids in a safe environment.

THE IDEAL HIRE

  • You need to be reliable, responsible & organized (no last minute cancellations)

  • You have the confidence to teach, the patience to work with kids and the personality to make each session fun.

  • You’re a team player and eager to share your knowledge with others

  • You genuinely like kids! You are patient, good-tempered, and youthful in your attitude

QUALIFICATIONS

  • YOU HAVE: solid communication skills and are comfortable sharing your knowledge with kids of various ages (from ages 4 - 14)

  • YOU LOVE: working with people, learning new things and are comfortable with technology (eg. tech toys, software programs) and are open to learning new things

  • BONUS SKILLS: coding experience may include: beginner coding programs such as Scratch/Scratch Jr (tablet), Swift, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, app-making, etc.

  • MUST HAVE: experience working with kids or teaching youth

MANDATORY: vulnerable sector police checks for all hires. You will also receive onsite training on working with children.

** Training will be provided for both working with children and teaching technology using our program curriculum.**

'Lizard Leader' 

(Admin & Team Support. Full Time. 60% Remote.)

 

Our fast-growing start-up is hiring! Codezilla is seeking a (mostly virtual) Office Administrator (‘Lizard Leader’) to help schedule and support our team of instructors. Full time role, 60% remote, 40% on-site at schools/camps in the GTA.

About The Role

Your #1 job is to ensure that our school programs and staff are properly scheduled so that we deliver ‘safe, educational fun’ in the classroom. You will maintain excellent communication with staff, schools and parents so that our instructors are informed and parents/teachers are delighted by what their child/student is learning. Duties include:

 

Operations (Administrative, Calendar Management): 

  • Help finalize and book school programs in the system and schedule staff to work. 

  • Work with our Equipment Manager to coordinate delivery of equipment (right equipment to the right school at the right day/time)

  • Well-written emails to schools/parents and timely updates to our team 

  • Periodic on-site visits to school, weekend workshops and camps to ensure excellent teaching by staff, safe and happy kids and 100% parent satisfaction. 

  • Continuously identify new operations and digital tools to streamline our process

  • Help identify ways to grow our business: online research, identify new camp locations and co-develop new STEM courses with our team of teachers/advisors

  • Help write and apply for grants and small business pitches 

Team Leader (Scheduling, Hiring, Training): 

  • You don’t need to “manage” the team - our staff are dedicated and enthusiastic. However, you need to ensure staff are scheduled for work and receive important updates throughout the program.

  • Maintain updated process documents about Codezilla’s teaching curriculum and school process, so staff are aware of work expectations

  • Ongoing check-ins to ensure that programs are running well and Codezilla is delivering great learning experiences 

  • Lead the hiring process, onboarding and training of new staff (3-4x a year). Including new ways to streamline the training process. 

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • You’re efficient, organized and excel at basic admin tasks (scheduling, coordinating, emailing).  

  • Accuracy and attention to detail: as the ‘go to’ person for our team, you know what’s happening and when.

  • Great customer service: you communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders throughout the school day, M-F

  • You love to make things smarter/faster/better. You think of creative solutions to improve our operations

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree, preference for Business / Communications grads

  • Previous Administration, Operations or Project Management experience. 

  • Solid communication skills. We’re an education company, so you need to be ‘on point’ with your writing and communication.

  • Excellent customer service: we’re a high-touch business with multiple stakeholders, so timely responses and positive interactions are important.

  • Software-savvy: Google Docs, Google Calendar, Slack, Asana, Trello, email automation marketing software, etc
